FRP grating

How to choose the right grating?

Choosing the right grating means examining several selection criteria: the dimensions of the panel (length and width), the mesh size (30 x 30 mm, 30 x 60 mm, 19 x 19 mm, etc.), the height and thickness of the bearing flat bar, and the span direction, which determines how the load is carried between supports. Bar spacing, the presence of anti-slip serration and compliance with the standards in force (such as the ball proof Ø20 mm requirement in certain public buildings) complete this analysis.

Indoor or outdoor use then guides the choice of material: outdoors, hot-dip galvanising provides lasting protection of the steel against oxidation, while stainless steel is preferred in aggressive environments or those subject to strict hygiene rules. For a technical terrace, a facade sun breaker or a pedestrian path in a park or garden, metal grating offers a far longer service life than wooden or plastic grating, which is often reserved for domestic terraces.
